Room for all the family

 

Several years ago we found ourselves in a dilemma. We had moved from a townhouse to a new home that didn’t require us to use lots of stairs, but we soon realised it was too small to allow our children and grandchildren to stay with us comfortably.

We considered moving again, but we like where we are, and our financial advisor said that we would do better to extend the house we already in – avoiding upwards of £20,000 moving costs in the process.

Guy came to look at our home and between us we found a way forward which would make the very most of the space we had, and at a budget we could afford.

He designed a side extension for us and sorted out the planning – this is now effectively a self-contained annexe with a bedroom and en-suite bathroom, and that has proved ideal for accommodating family when they visit.

In addition, we had spare space in our garage, so half of that was converted into a utility room, and we also added a bathroom in the main house, as we only had one before, so more people can stay there too.

The house is something of a Tardis now – with lots of room for the family to stay: we’re delighted with it, and the grandchildren love coming here. We had the house valued before and after the work and discovered that we had increased its value by a lot more than the money we had spent on it.

Guy managed every aspect of the project from start to finish and there was never anything for us to worry about. We would always recommend him.

  • Building regulation approval
  • Site clearance
  • Excavations, foundations, drainage connection
  • New build included:
    – masonary structure;
    – timber roof structure, tiled;
    – installation of windows and doors.
  • Internal finishes
  • Bathroom installation
  • Utility installation in existing garage area
  • New porch
  • Further house refurbishments:
    – 
    including fitting new first floor bathroom;
    – new internal doors;
    – and WC.
